Pogoria :(

Read today that "Pogoria" had an accident. Lost all masts and is ruled out of the race. Fortunately no one of the crew was injured. She was taken to Finland temporary.

She looked so beautiful at the parade under the sails. Hope she will be rebuilt quickly. At the photo they showed at TV it looked disastrous.

The sea belongs to the sailingships

Sailingships left Gdynia and now the quays and the President's Basin where the biggest ones were moored seems to be more empty than ever before.

It was a wonderful time. The great parade was amazing and seeing so many sailingships under sails is unforgottable. That day the sea belonged to the sailingships. Huge sailingships under the full sails and hundrets of small yachts.

Took a lot of photos, bought some postcards and a cup as souvenirs. And of course visited as many sailingships as I could: 'Alexander von Humbold', 'Sorlandet', 'Kaliakra', 'George Stage', 'Yunyi Baltiets', 'Mir' and 'Fryderyk Chopin'. Couldn't miss a possibility to revisit 'Dar Młodzieży'.

Regret a bit things I missed but I would have to be in two places at once to attend to them.

'Dar Pomorza' was the honoured guest of the parade. Was taken out of the port and placed near the route of it. Every ship from the biggest sailingship to the smallest yacht saluted to her.

Soon 'Dar Pomorza' will have 100 years. If only she could sail all by herself, under the sails... At TSR there were ships build more than 100 years ago but still sailing so it's not impossible.

The Tall Ships' Races began

Spend wonderful day, observing sailingships coming into the port, walking by the piers where they are moored and taking photos.

Not so easy to recoginse ships from the distance especially that at the morning there was some mist. Was sure only about 'Sorlandet' and 'Sedov' (they repainted her from white into navy blue but it was not enough to deceive ;) Saw also 'Roald Amundsen', 'George Stage' and 'Alexander von Humbold' coming in.

So far visited only that last one. I hope tommorrow I will have a look at the rest and collect memorial stamps. And take more photos of course!

'Mir' and 'Sedov' belongs to the biggests ships. Seems to be the most interesting. They are also the only two ships when one has to buy a ticket to come onboard. Ah, those Russians ;/ At all other class A-ship one can pay a visit onboard for free.

Hope tomorrow there won't be so hot as today. Good weather for photos but hard to bear for longer time.

Despite all of those sailingships are magnificent I still found 'Dar Pomorza' to be the most beautiful. Well, my local patriotism is shining through ;)

Sailingships, sailingships

Was very lucky today. Catched 'Dar Młodzieży' leaving the port, apparently thee crew was going to do some practising on the bay. Took a lot of photos. Some of them behind the cut.

A few days till The Tall Ships' Races. Have to look through the pages to get familiar with the most of the sailingship. Couldn't found photos of two or three of A-class sailingships when I was looking for information a while ago. The official page lacks descriptions to be honest.

Found complete 'Without the trace' tv show at YT. Seven seasons. I know what I'm going to watch now then. Have only a few episodes of 'Zorro' to watch till the end.

Gdynia - the marine captial of Poland

Only eights days till the The Tall Ships' Races begins! Gdynia is going to be the host of event fourth time.

Gdynia - żeglarską stolicą Polski. Już za osiem dni rozpoczyna się The Tall Ships' Races. Gdynia będzie gospodarzem imprezy czwarty raz.

Found a video of the opening of the previous one: 'The world in the eyes of Gdynia' from 2003. It's amazing.

Can't wait to see all of those magnificent ships in the one place.

Italy vs Egypt

Italy can start packing their things. They lost to Egypt and I doubt they will defeat Brazil. At last friendly it was 2:0 for Brazil.

Will Brazil and Egypt succeed on the group stage (seems Brazil already did) and play at semi-finals?

If Italy goes home it will be because of this guy:

Essam El Hadary. The goalkeeper and also the captian of the team. He was awesome, Italian players just weren't able to defeat him. He stopped direct shots, he even catched a ball which was practically inside - kept in on the line of the goal.

Don't know if he alaways plays like that or just it was his day. Will watch the next match US - Egypt to check this.

As for Buffon he was completely without the chance when the goal for Egypt was scored... Which Italian defender left Shawky unguarded?

The Mark of Zorro

Watched The Mark of Zorro yesterday. Good movie, nice to rewatch (saw it a long time ago in TV, remembered some scenes). Liked Tyrone Power in the part of Don Diego/Zorro. Basil Rathbone played the evil captain Esteban. His voice is so characterstic that listening to him I heard Sherlock Holmes.

Disney's Zorro tv show took a lot from this movie. I think I like the tv show a little more, much thanks to great part of Guy Williams, good mix of action and humor and interesting storylines. And of course duo sergean Garcia - corporal Reyes ;)

Watched Brazil - US today. US is the first team to go home, unsucessful at the Confederation Cup. Both team wanted to win, but Brazil was just better. Tim Howard made some amazing saves. I have to check at ESPN stats how many times Brazil had actually shot at the goal. I think it will be at least 8-10 saves. Julio Cesar... I believe he was on the pitch but had nothing to do. US had some ocassion to score. One shot hit the bar of the goal, another a post.

Would prefer to watch it with US commentary from ESPN. Unfortunetly the best transmition was with Arabian one.

Italy - Egypy is about to start. I will keep my fingers crossed for Italy because I think that when they meet with Brazil they might lost. They have to win today.

Read some comments and news. Beto moved to FC Porto. Wish I had Portuguese League at tv to follow 'big three'. Some fans would like to kick Eduardo from the Portuguese goal. What for? Was that a frango, a blunder, that goal allowed in the match with Albania? Even if have they already forget who kept 0 on the back in the last qualifiers? On the other side Beto made so good impression at last friendly that the no. 1 jersey might change the owner.
Nothing about Ricardo's possible transfer. Should I care? Even if he moves it seems he will exchange sitting on the bench in one club to another. Leaving Portugal was a mistake.

Dumas

After a note posted by [info]upupa_epops I plan to reread all Musketeers realted book. This time perhaps the complete version of the last one: Viscount de Bragelonne (turned out that the Polish version I have I shorther than the orignal and lacks some chapters, how they could publish it like that?!)

Anyway, I digged through my Three Musketeer related works. A long time ago I draw some sketchs of d'Artagnan and Rochefort. Two drawings, drawn a bit later, turned out quite nice:

D'Artagnan

Cardinal Richelieu

My d'Artagnan bears resemblance to Gabriel Byrne, not without a reason. And the cardinal... is similar just to the cardinal as Filip de Champaigne used to paint him on portraits.

The Musketeer series is one of my all time favorites. Maybe it's time to do something now (does The Muskeeters have such a thing like fandom? ;)

Once I even dared to write a short fan fiction with d'Artagnan, Rochefort and Richelieu...

Sherlock Holmes - new trailer

After watching the trailer, shortly: lol! and like, omg!

It's going to be quite nice comedy the most riddiculus Holmes adaptation there ever was. Didn't expected nothing more to be honest. There will be no more adaptations like Grenada series...

Feel dissapointed that the guy I at first thought is Lestrade is in fact The-Main-Very-Evil-Villain. Lestrade got 2 sec in the trailer. Wow.

Apparently the scene with naked Holmes cuffed to the bed and the pillow is true.

What a crack.

Animals in football

Found this video a while ago when I was searching for something else. A dog on the pitch stopped the game at one of Polish league matches. And who handle the situation?

Of course the goalkeeper! I like him already :D

Later I found a compliation with animals in football which happen to found themselves on the pitch. There was almost everything there. Even a... bull! XD

Portuguese goalkeepers picspam

Another picspam for the purpouses of [info]forca_seleccao.

After Ricardo's picspam there is time for Portuguese goalkeepers' picspam. They also need some picspam love.

Carlos Queiroz discovered that there is more than one goalkeeper in Portugal, I give him that. I dare to say so far they seem to be the only solid point in the team he bulits since he become the coach.

Features: Daniel Fernandes looking handsome no-matter-what - the current no. 1 in Portuguese goal Eduardo with the most sensible glance of the all goalkeepers - Ricardo making desperate saves even when it's not needed - Quim who has the greatest hairstyle - Rui Patricio who is the future of Selecçao - some photos of Moreira, Tiago and Vitor Baía - goalkeepers at training - a comparision of looks-of-doom between Vitor Baía, Ricardo and Quim - Quim's moments of glory at Carlsberg Cup (Taça da Liga) final - Ricardo looking as a big raspberry ice-cream - Eduardo looking as a big strawberry ice-cream - some omg!saves - moments of glory - moments of failure, because it happens even to the best - some funny moments and much more.

Thanks for [info]beautiskyhigh and Monica of A Futebol Fan blog. Some of those awesome photos were found by them and so can be repost here. This picspam is mostly done for you!

Preview:

Eduardo and Quim make fun of Daniel. Definietely one of my favorite photos.

Gambit! :)

The visible effects of the previous weekend is a new header and a new banner at the profile page. To put it shortly it was very nice time. And generally like, omg! XD

Saw the Wolverine: Origin. I just reblog my note from [info]remy_lebeau. The film probably has a plot and some other things but for me it was just an addition to those few scenes with Gambit.

Ok, Hugh Jackman is a perfect Wolverine, I admit it. Now focus on the most important thing which is...

I'm in a halfway of gathering Portuguese goalkeepers picspam. Will post it soon.

:)

Poland won 10:0 with San Marino. And it's not April's Fool day.

The record, the highest victory in the history.

Very weak opponent but in previous match it was 2:0 thanks to Łukasz Fabiański who saved a penalty kick in 4'.

If they played like this always...

Portugal - Sweden / Portugalia - Szwecja

And after the match...

This picture is definietly in too much use. Would made avatar of it, but I don't have place for it anyway.

Around 30 shots on target.

0 goals.

The goalkeeper Eduardo the best player of whole team.

Portugal almost out of the qualifiers for the Championships.

But at least they played way better than Poland. Sweden was also very good.

How good that there is Italy, Spain and Brazil to watch!

Poland - North Ireland / Polska - Irlandia Północna

Najgorszy mecz kadry jaki w życiu widziałam.

The worst match of Polish national team I've ever seen.

Niech to wystarczy za komentarz:

This should be enough for the comment:

No to Polska zakończyła eliminacje do Mistrzostw Świata.

It seems Poland is out of the eliminations for World Cup.

Polish strategy [drawing]

Portuguese strategy is toss a coin and choose a goalkeeper the squad.

And Polish strategy is even easier: just place Artur Boruc in the goal and no oppontent would dare to come near!

Preview: Why the ball looks so scared?

Don't come near the goal )

Tomorrow: Poland - North Ireland and Portugal - Sweden. The end is near.
